Wow, so I get out on the street after checking into the B and B. and ask the first pedestrian I see if they know where The Mount, Darwin's birthplace, is. Not only do they know, they take me to practically within sight of it before they go to their place of work. On the way, we got a scenic guided tour of the village by a delightful guide.

I had tried to call The Mount many times, but could not even find a phone number. It turns out that is because it is the currently the Valuation Office. That is what we would call the Tax Assessor. I had very mixed emotions about this. On one hand, it is being well maintained as a government building. On the other hand, I hoped for a museum, but when I could not find the number, I assumed it was a private residence. So, even though I didn't want to pay taxes, I rang the bell.
