Thought I'd try this Elephant Mountain malarkie today, as I fancied a different form of exercise. So up I went but not without having a little difficulty finding my way up there first. It was one of those days where even though the map was followed; I still couldn’t manage to nail it in terms of finding the actual location.  In the end I resorted to going into a post office for directions and it was there I met cookie.  No, not the character of some tough streetwise but loveable hooker who appears as a regular is one of those U.S TV prime time New York cop shows! Rather a elementary school teacher who so happened to be on her lunch break in my hour of need. Speaking rather good English, she decided to assist me with my troubles by actually offering me a ride on her moped to the mountain. Again another Taiwanese person of awesomeness, she was very chatty and had lots of recommendations for me about the city. She of course thought that at this time of day, I was mad for going on a hike up there but I love the heat and you also burn more.

Once there I proceeded up the first set of stairs. I tend to find hikes often generally always start with a small flight of stairs; as some sort of prelude of what’s to come. As I strolled up them,, all I could see were passers by infected with a harsh and heavy breathe and panting disease. To be honest on observation over four months, fitness isn’t really a top priority in most of the Asian countries I’ve visited, so it was no surprise to see what I saw. As for me I was loving the walk. The more aggressive it got, the more fun I was having. There was even a section of the mountain that had a mini fitness center where I proceeded to ado a few chin up reps – heaven!

Twenty minutes later, I’m at the top of it already. All the hype and exaggeration from people about how strenuous it is and how in this heat it’s too much and in the end it turned out to be a shorter stint then an episode of Corrie. I hung around up top for a while and got myself some pics, then it was back down for my next tourist destination. Which was to be the manxough gondola mountain trip. I was quite keen about that this particular one and it was quite an easy find on the MRT. Arrive there tough to disappointment, as a storm came in, shutting down the transport. In the end it onward to the Shantao temple to see what all the fuss was about. It was smaller than expected but had quite a glamourous look to it. Later I headed back home and I was determined to chill but Kat, troublesome young lady that she is persuaded me to hit another club. M CLUB was the name and it was much better than Luxy. Good night all round and soon it was head for home.

I'm determined to get some sleep
