21st September finally saw us depart from Zimbabwe...we sat around playing cards till the truck arrived at about 2pm...there was some debate as to what we were going to do, as the first plan was to skip everything from Botswana, but the Delta was still really popular, so a plan was devised for us to do the delta from Namibia...so we all loaded on the truck, drove to Spar...did some shopping and finally got on the road about 4pm. At about 5pm we were crossing into Botswana...another stamp in the passport from a lovely lady...and went to our campsite for the night...The Thebe river. Dinner was cooked by Belinda and Sara, and we chilled out by the bar...before heading to bed for an early start in the morning.

Next morning we had crossed the border into Namibia by about 9am so no Postcard sending opportunities for me in Botswana...and we drove on towards Ngeri Campsite where we were told we should be able to do the Delta activities...we just played cards and talked along the route...and then decided to flag them down for the toilet just as they began to stop anyway...we were within 30kms of our destination...and guess what...yup...we'd broken down again...a second piston had gone...we were stopped and not going anywhere a long wait beside the road!
a long wait beside the road!
. Ronnie and Peter flagged down a truck and got a lift the 10kms to the town to find a mechanic and we got chairs out and sat outside by the truck...kids gathered round...the usual story really...the mechanics brought the guys back and they had a look but decided there was nothing they could do there...so organised for a tractor to come and tow us to the mechanics yard..which we arrived at after dark as all this had taken about 3 hours...and we'd broken down about 3.30 in the afternoon. It was decided we would camp in the mechanics yard that evening so tents were set up and food preparation begun...and the guys got a lift to the campsite we were heading to, in order to see if they could sort out the excursions we wanted to do...we had gone to bed by the time they returned.
