The 14th i got my trips paid for and got my medicine and chilled out the rest of the morning. At lunchtime, we caught a taxi to the Zimbabwe border, and waited for our pick up for the Rhino walk. The Rhino walk is back on the Zambian side, so we paid our day visa (as our passports said we hadn't paid when we entered Zambia...guessing someone pocketed the money we did pay and we had no receipt!) and re-entered the country again. The rhino walk was so cool. They have 2 rhino a male and a female, Molly and Fwanga. We got within a matter of feet of them and took photos and got told all about them. They get guarded all the time to protect them from poaching, and the Rhino walks help to pay for the costs associated with protecting them. We then walked round a part of the park seeing Buffalo, Zebra and wilderbeest. Before being collected by our vehicle and taken for snacks by the river...where we could hippo spot and where 2 wilderbeest chased into the water. Then we dashed back across the border to meet the others for our evening of Interactive drumming and a traditional meal
The next day i was up very early and now starting to feel much better...headed back to the zim border, and over into Zambia to go flying in a microlight aircraft over the falls...so much fun and fantastic views...with them taking the photos from the wing of the aircraft...so cooooool photos. When i'd finished that...i asked to go along the falls on the Zambian side before we crossed back over the border...the driver agreed so we paid our entry and he gave us a guided escort along the falls walks, before taking us back to the border. Once crossed back over, i walked back into town via an ice cream stand and headed back to camp. I wasn't back there long before Sara and I were off out for our Elephant Safari. We got to the Lodge where the elephants are and they brought them out and introduced them to us. Sara and I ended up on Jake, a large 22 year old Elephant. He was behaving himself this day...but he was at the front...which is his preference, so we were told. There was also a baby elephant of 22 months that was walking with us...she was very cute. After a walk around for an hour and a half, we returned and fed the elephants some pellets, before they saluted us and walked off, while we then tucked into our snacks and looked at the souvenirs they sold. When we got back we chilled out at the bar with everyone else, and were surprised to see the crew of our truck arrive...minus truck...that was still waiting a part in Lusaka...and they were only there until it would be ready for collection on monday - hopefully!
A-mazing
. It was great fun...we were on the shores of the river, with a big fire lit...we all had a drum and the 'crew' larked around and got us to follow them in beat patterns...gradually speeding up until they'd lost us all...then teaching us another one. The food was also great...a version of Ugali (but the verdict of much nicer - kinda mashed potato effect) with a kinda meat stew and a veg stew. The next day i was up very early and now starting to feel much better...headed back to the zim border, and over into Zambia to go flying in a microlight aircraft over the falls...so much fun and fantastic views...with them taking the photos from the wing of the aircraft...so cooooool photos.
