We awoke at 7 for a 7.30 breakfast.  There was no heating in the hostel so all were cold apart from me.  I don't think I helped British international relations, as I complained it was far too hot in my mountain bag.....   After a simple breakfast and a donation I walked on.
It was very quiet now, I saw few walkers until first lunch in a bar in St Juan de Ortega next to a hostel.  It was 20 km from the previous nights hostel but this hostel had a reputation as the worst on the Camino, so I could not rest the night.  I met a charming Norwegian chap called Olaf, he was my age but looked fitter.  It was obvious he was not on my Camino con vino!  He only knew one town in the UK, Brighton, so we got on famously and shared a few refreshments and snacks.  He has been mugged in Logrono, he lost his camera and phone.  He was a gentle soul, that was an obvious soft target to the bullies and thieves that pray on such people.  I was sad to say farewell, but I know we will meet again on the walk.
I walk past Atapuerta, the site where they found the oldest humanoid bones, about one million years old.  It seems a little ironic to walk on a pilgrimage past this site of evolutionary importance.
I walk on and find the next hostel is full, as is the one further on.  I arrive in a village that is suppose to have a hostel, but it is closed until May.  I seek refreshment and shelter from the rain.  I meet the 2 Italians from the other day,  Dario and Valerio, who are joined by Dario´s lovely sister Anna.  I join them for a few refreshments.  We have no buses so decide to walk on to the next village in the hope of a hostel.  Its pouring with rain but I talk with Anna who speaks some English.  It turns out she has an English pub just outside of Venice.  They sell Doom Bar, a fabulous Cornish beer on draft.  I cannot believe it, I meet a beautiful woman with a pub, so I ask her to marry me immediately!  She laughs and says I am mad.  I am mad but her smile in that rain breaks my heart, never mind the pub...
We arrive at another refreshment stop, I have done 35 km now so have finally deserved it!  There is no hostel so we take a cab to the city of Burgos.
In the Burgos hostel I meet up with all the old gang, the Korean Sun Ho, English Nicki and Ben.  There are new faces too.   I join the Italian Camino team for dinner, we end up having refreshments with all the other walkers.  I tell Ben about Anna and her pub, his favorite beer is Doom Bar so he also asks her to marry him immediately!  She thinks all Englishmen are mad, she may be right but she does have a wonderful smile.  Dario is a little over refreshed and wonders off, we have to search for him and nearly get locked out.  They shut at 10.30 sharp and leave you out all night if you are late.  Fortunately I have some whiskey, others wine, and they sell beer so the refreshment continues late into the night.  Finally Dario marches off his sister to bed, I think he as got a bit fed up of every British male asking his sister to marry him......
