we took a savari (shared taxi) to minab to discover it was friday and the bazaar wouldn't be at all rowdy we couldn't go in the mosque. (it seems to me that in iran, every third day is friday. i don't know how this works but i think the phenomenon is powered by some kind of hitch hiker's guide to the galaxy reality field) no matter, we can climb the hill and check out the castle.
up we went.
a lovely veiw over the town and the dry river next to it. alessandro and i were enjoying the view, taking snaps and eating mandarines when a group of bandari girls camne wandering to the hill top.
after a little chat with all our mutual language skills, we were invited, to aless' and my great surprise, to their home. i asked 'moshkali nist?' (my newest farsi phrase - 'no problem?') and they said its fine, come on bandari family, minab
bandari family, minab
.
well.... for the next 3 hours we were treated to fruit and tea, a wonderful meal and even better company, with the bandari girls who were all school friends, 2 of whom live in the house with their 4 other siblings, mum, and oldest sister's husband and young boy.
we laughed and communicated with limted language, hand gestures, and drawings all afternoon, untill nearly sunset.
on the way back to the savari station to bandar, a local guy asked me to take his photo with his bandari missus, highly unusual.
oh and it was another beautiful sunset

next day to hormoz island to check out an ancient portuguese fortress, from when they were a power in the persian gulf.
another night in bandar, then alessandro and i decided we wanted to check out jask, on the south coast of iran........
