aah, the joys of travel.
the guy next to me was dresses like and had the beard of a fundamentalist islamic. but he had the friendliest eyes in the world. he wrote down an islamic mantra about allah and gave it to me and siad not to throw it away.
this guy came from zahendan, a town to the east of iran, which is almost a law unto itslef, a major haven for drug smugglers from pakistan. i just read that a few days ago, 3 convicted smugglers were hanged there.
i gotta go!!!!
bandar!!!- i love it. the weather, the milkshakes from the un-named milkshake shop, the bazaar, the bandari women who wear a colourful all-over shawl instead of the standard black iranian chador, the smell of the sea, the people, of the wonderful persian people.
i checked into a moserfakhune and had to pay for 4 beds in the room coz the owners didn't like iranians and foreigners staying together for security reasons. expensive, but still cheaper than the price of a dorm bed in eastern europe.
i wandered around during the afternoon and came across a small show, with fellas showing off a big python and a kid sticking his head into the python's box. eeek!!
then they proceeded to drive the car over each other, one of my favourite afternoon pastimes with the boys back home, after a few beers (and a mallet to the head). these guys were clearly nuts so i gave them 1 khomeni, about $1.30, aussie, for their troubles. walking back from giving the small donation, i spotted alessandro there in the very spot i was standing a moment ago.
i love that about travel.
aless and i shared the 4 bed room that night and the next 2, saving a lot of cheap money.
we decided to head to minab for a day trip the next day.....
