We got a taxi to Genting Highlands for the last 3 days in Malaysia. The route took us past our first stop there, Kuala Lumpur and then high up in the hills along some steep horseshoe bends.  We were staying half way up to the main resort on a golf resort (another that we later found did not offer left hand golf set rentals!).  Our room was on the 25th floor overlooking the golf course and the amusement park and casino resort partly hidden in the clouds.

At night we went for the 'all you can eat' buffet dinner and then to the bar for a beer and a few games of pool.  Then we settled down for the night watching films on the TV.

On our first full day we got the shuttle bus to the cable car which took us to the attractions.  The cable car was a very steep 20 minute ride over the forest overgrowth, reaching the largest hotel complex in the World.  Three hotels surround an outdoor and indoor amusement park for the adrenalin junkies.  Inside there was a parachute dive simulator (the one thing we wanted to do but was closed for maintenance), several casinos, a glow in the dark bowling alley and a multitude of restaurants.  There was even a snow world and a water world!  During the day the temperature reached 27 deg C, as the afternoon progressed, the clouds filled the amusement park and the winds picked up bringing heavy rain.  Feeling a little disappointed about the simulator  and the weather unsuitable for the outdoor activities we opted for a few games at the bowling alley – Waffle was hitting like a pro so I didn’t get a chance (even though I was still getting 8’s and 9’s and our scores were a lot higher than others around us).   We were not dressed for snow world or the casinos (apparently) so our options were very limited and after wondering around the shopping complex and having a meal we decided to head back to the hotel as our feet were starting to ache.

On our last day in Genting Highlands and Malaysia we rested and prepared our bags for the flight to Phuket as the last week or so we had just been stuffing the bags any old way so we needed to tidy them up!  We booked our taxi to Kuala Lumpur airport, Waffle read the local news and I sorted the blog and pictures.

After checking out of the hotel we set off to the airport...arriving 6 hours before our flight to Phuket.  It was to be a loooong day milling around the few shops at LCCT airport in KL!

What an amazing journey it has been – we have seen and experienced some incredible hospitality, some curious wildlife and beautiful places.  I know that every country we have visited on this trip we have enjoyed and were sad to leave each one but Malaysia and Borneo are so diverse two months just doesn’t feel enough.  There have been a couple of places that we were not that impressed with but the ones we enjoyed just outshone those leaving very fond memories.
