We left our hotel at 8:40, our earliest starting time yet, and walked first through Buckie's port area. The rest of the day's nine-mile hike took us along the Moray coast on an easy, well-marked path through the small towns of Findochty and Portknockie, culminating in Cullen. We passed two or three bloody golf courses en route and had to hack our way through an aggressively overgrown bit of growse at one point, but the seaside views were absolutely breathtaking! We stopped at the most magnificent of the magnificent spots, "The Bow Fiddle Rock" to have our lunch. I got a little snap happy throughout -to say the least. We're talking over a 100 photos taken during the day's walk! I was practically orgasmic at the sights and the fact that the lighting was so optimal (from a geeky photographer's point of view)
We arrived in Cullen at about 2:30 and, once checking in at the Seafield Arms Hotel, headed for its lounge bar for our daily celebratory pint of lager. After our drinkie pooh, we went to a coffee shop across the road. I did some journalling and soon after, Rebecca headed back to the room to freshen up. The cafe closed before I'd caught up on my writing so I walked down the high street to a lovely area with picnic benches and a fine view of the sea/beach below. I wrote for another 15 minutes or so and then headed back to the hotel. I stopped at a gift shop along the way which had exquisite jewelry displayed in the window and ended up purchasing gifts there for Jenny, Sara and myself.
Once back at the hotel, I got cleaned up (Thank God you stinky beast!) and then we went to dinner at the hotel. We watched a little bit of British TV before heading off to slumberville around 9 PM.
Interesting tidbit: It turns out the Seafield Arms Hotel is supposedly haunted by the ghost of a woman who was whipped to death (lovely!) by her playboy husband some 400 years previously. Apparently she wanders the streets of Cullen, bloody and bewildered by her grisly fate. Wouldn't you be?!!?
