I loved the opportunity I had with these cultural opportunities because it got me to visit Chicago (even though I was eventually going to make it up there sooner or later). We had much more planned ahead for ourselves but because of a late start a lot of things on our itinerary had to be canceled.  The stop we made for my cultural opportunity was the Adler Planetarium.

I have been to planetariums before, but this was obviously my first experience to Adler.  I am very intrigued with the concept of space so this was very exciting to me.  It is one of those places that, even though it is only around twenty miles or so from your home, it is a place that only a handful of people will ever visit in a lifetime.  We had a very nice walking through the planetarium and I was very interested in the display they had for the first studies of stars.  They placed you back in time and you were able to see the tools and knowledge that they had when they were first studying astronomy.  It is very impressive to see how they acquired so much incredible data with the limited resources that they had.  It makes me appreciate the skies at night much more.

After the aquarium, my girlfriend and I took a walk to Millennium Park where we saw a fountain, a metal bean, and two giant pillars with faces on them spitting out water.  After the walk back to our cars, I pulled out my camera and my tripod and was able to take some beautiful shots of the city.  Hope you enjoy!
