Well, I must say that when I went to go see The Tempest in Bloomington, I had no idea what to suggest. To however far back I could remember this was the only Shakespeare play I have ever seen.  Maybe a little tough to understand but overall I did enjoy the play and the experience quite a bit.  Shakespeare's plays were meant to be seen and not read, and now I know why.

Once I arrived at the theater I was very impressed.  I almost got lost getting there because the way I went took me on some back roads and I ended up near a bunch of houses.  Then all of a sudden out of nowhere I arrived at the theater.  I enjoyed the atmosphere there, where there were flowers, gardens, and even local singers.  It all added greatly to the mood and really immersed you into the Shakespeare mood.

The doors opened and we were shown to our seats when the show began.  The acting and props were great.  Even the spirits covered in paint matched up perfectly.  The play was a little difficult for me to understand, primarily because of the language barrier.  That’s why it was so important to me to actually watch the performance instead of reading it from a book.  Because of the scenery and how the performers acted I was able to comprehend a lot more of the play than I normally would have.  The ending seemed a little too happy for a story like that but overall I very much enjoyed my time in Bloomington watching Shakespeare’s The Tempest.
