I know that some people don't like zoos, but I had an awesome day at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary! I couldn't have asked for more... got to tickle a koala, watch a platapus swim, see raptors fly right over my head, see a working trio of sheepdogs (Babe is one of my favorite movies after all), watch a sheep get sheared, HUG kangaroos and see a Tasmanian Devil. Does it get any better?!
It does! Went to the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art. Here were a few of my favorites from the Australian Collection.
Then walked along the South Bank, with its pretty "beach" and ended the evening with fireworks, a concert by local band, Green Thief, and a full moon, celebrating Buddha's birthday. There is a ritual bathing done on this day: "it is easy to wash away the physical dirt, but not the mental dirt of greed, hatred and ignorance." Happy Birthday Buddha; thanks for a beautiful day!
