The flight from JFK in NYC to Helsinki Finland took about 8 hours.  The plane was spotless clean, which was a nice surprise.  So many planes are shopworn and dirty.  Each seat had a clean pillow, blanket and set of earphones.  There was also an entertainment screen in front of each seat, with lots of options.  You had the choice of watching a lot of different movies, TV shows, listening to music, or playing a number of computer games.

I sat in a row of four seats.  There was a woman on the other end, the two middle seats were empty.  The flight attendants were very attractive, tall and fair.  Their uniforms were retro, resembled the ones worn in the 60s, very stylish.  They all wore their hair up in a French twist.  They were very pleasant and professional.  They served dinner and breakfast.  The food was ok.  You could have complimentary wine or beer if you liked.  I stuck with lots of water and tea in the evening and coffee in the morning.

A young woman was flying with a little girl, about 2-3 years old.  She walked the aisle with her all through the night.  The little girl fell asleep when we landed, of course.

The Helsinki airport is quite large.  They take security very seriously.  They sent my makeup bag through the scanner three times, they searched my bag, and I was patted down by a female attendant.  They did this with a lot of people.  They were polite and professional.  Lots of people on my flight were traveling to Russia Latvia, etc.  This airport reminded me alot of the Ikea stores.  Security was quite crowded,

I made it to my connecting flight to Krakow as they were boarding.  The flight took less than an hour.  It was 11 AM when we landed. Krakow airport is small.  It was crowded.  All the signs were in Polish, everyone speaking Polish.  I had arrived!  I was in Krakow!  My adventure begins.
