Heading back towards Toulouse to make it to Sunday lunch with the Charbonnier's, we stop in Canne for coffee and to see where the film festival is held, not so busy when the festival is not on, but very chic shops. Have got this driving down pat...well at least on the highways, there is no real speed limit, recommended 130km, but if you drive this speed you stay in the slow lane. So off we went, after driving at 140km, driving 100km back home will feel really slow. We arrive in Montpellier and after driving around this lovely city three times we now know this city like the back of our hands (I am terrible at finding us on the map whenever we approach a city) we check into our hotel, and go exploring. We love this city for its streets and houses with French shutters. We come across the city's cathedral- 'St Pierre', much to Donna's horror the cathedral has been used as an art gallery, but not just any art, it is very left field.... a lion and a antelope, hung on a cross, eagles hanging upside down, and a head and torso covered in hair (a little scary, something from the movie- 'The Ring'). We continued exploring and ended up at Jardin Des Plantes (garden of plants), where we find a French man playing with his dog, the dog would fetch the stick been thrown into the fountain by the man, the dog was so happy to ran at full speed and throw himself into the pond of water. Before dinner we stumbled across a funky bar, that had shefers, and cushion on the floor where you just chilled with a cocktail served in a teapot , very funky music played in the back ground. For dinner we finally found the French famous Mussels and Fries dish... Soren tried them (I'm not so adventurist with my food), they weren't too bad, but not delicious.
Our week in the South of France is sadly coming to an end. We make our way back to Belflou for lunch with the Charbonnier's, and then we spend the night in ALBI, famous for the artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, sadly the museum was closed by the time we got to Abli. But we did get a chance to see the cathedral 'Ste-Cecile' the detail in the stone on the outside and inside is amazing, you could spend hours just gazing at them. This is the quietest town we have come across, Sunday and nothing is open and no one is about (sadly not even French markets to explore), we grab an early dinner (afraid that all would close early) and chill out and watch American movies in French...trying to figure out the story line, quite a challenge. Back to Toulouse to spend the afternoon with Michel and Myraim, and a beautiful lunch overlooking Place Du Capitole, and wander down by the river to Point Neuf Bridge, one last time before heading home.
