My 29th birthday, what better way to spend it then in the most romantic city in the world....PARIS.

We arrive late Saturday evening and after checking into our hostel in Monmarte (the only hill in Paris) we venture off to explore. As we are walking I see a person walk into an alley, as we walk pass I look in to the alley and see a large rock formation blocking the path, intrigued we cautiously wonder into the alley, as we walk pass the rock, my breath is taken away at the sight of the Eiffel Tower. I then realise that I am finally here, I am standing in Paris.
We find the Sacre Couer and end up in a restaurant/bar listening to french music and trying our french out on the locals.(Soren is much better at this than I, but it is fun to try what little french I have learnt in the last 8 weeks) .

Our first day in Paris.. Artist shoot of the eiffel tower
Artist shoot of the eiffel tower
. on our way to the Eiffel Tower we come across a sunday food market, oh wow the food is so fresh and looks so tasty, we want to buy everything. We walk the stairs to the top of the Eiffel tower, the rain and wind make it challenging, but all more memorable.  The views are great.
Next stop The Lurve. this museum is so big we could get lost in here for days, is has alot of statues so  we choose four pieces that we wanted to see. My favourite is of Psyche and Cupid, (a marble statue of Cupid kissing a beautiful girl), and Soren's favourite (other than the statue he fell in love with as a boy- Venus De Milo) is Hercules with a lion gripping into his leg. As we leave the Lurve it starts to rain but ends very quickly, we then are blessed with a beautiful view of the lurve and a rainbow behind it. we walk through Jardin des Tuileries (a park ) and make our way to the Pont Des Invalides bridge to get a sunset photo of the Eiffel tower with it lights on, unfortunately it rains again before the lights come on, but the bridge looks amazing.
We choose a small french restaurant for dinner and we are entertained with a young singer and an older man who played the piano. The restaurant has a nice cosy welcoming feel to it and it is not to long before we are in conversation with the couple next to us, (as it turned out the girl's birthday was the same as mine). Some of the meals where cooked in the middle of the restaurant, so we order crepes aux susette for desert as we knew they would cook them where we could see them, it was fun to watch.

Our second day in Paris we have breakfast in a cafe in Monmarte and walk past the Moulin Rouge, It  is windy today and raining, but the wind is so bad that we can't keep the umbrella up. We attempt to go to the top of the Arc De Triomphe but it is closed, so we wonder down Champs-Elysees to do some retail therapy, and before we knew it the sun is out and shinning, we make our way over to The Notre Dames, the cathedral is nice inside, but it is the outside that we like the most. We climb the stairs to view the bell inside the tower, and we have fun finding all the quirky little gargoyles on the outside. The view here is great, we can see The Sacre Couer sitting on the only hill in Paris. From here you can see just how flat Paris is against Monmarte. We take a casual walk around Paris one last time before catching the Eurostar back to London.

Over all the weather in Paris was mostly raining/overcast/winding, with a few hours of sun- shine a day, after all this weather I still fell in love with paris. Soren and I will be returning to Paris. A city I would love to visit again and again.
