Lots of Kiwis asked about "this American Holiday,Thanksgiving"...and just didn't get it . THey thought it was a celebration with Indians and Pilgrim costumes. No way to explain about gorging on the same old food and too much football...and naps.

So...we decided to show them...not realizing we really wern't in the US,and no American football is on (by the way what the hell is going on in the NFL...we get no news) life without Broncos can happen.

First it was really tough to find turkeys, but finall randown 2 6kg birds(14 pounds to the metrically impaired) sweet potatoes as we knew them don't exist, so used kumara (look it up)...someone donated cranberries, made tons of mashed potatoes and Candy turned out fab gravy, side dishes were improvised.

Invited 30 or so and 25 showed up...had a tent on the deck and flat decorated. Bought heaps of good Kiwi wine and nobody drank it after they discovered homemade egg I whipped up served with American Bourbon...Wild Turkey...after they tasted USA hootch...the American wisecracks stopped...drank me dry.

Had loads of fun, they learned to eat too much and found the magic of sleepiness after turkey gravy.(and too much plonk)(Kiwi for drinks).

We were able to shut it all down by 2 AM.
