One fine Sunday Graham (a workmate), also an hilarious dry-witted Scotsman, whose brogue I am just beginning to understand, invited us out with his wife,Nyrie, for a trip into Central Otago. This area is like a plain or moor with tracts of tussocks(a clumped grass) and wide open spaces. It is also sheep countryand we went to his friends sheep station just before shearing season is to get well underway.

Had a great picnic and had pikelets...a Kiwi pancake, but smaller, thicker and sweeter...served cold with jams and whipped cream...diet food. Cups were set out with bags...oh,tea. No...coffee. I scoffed,"impossible"! But noooo..;.perfect coffee from a bag....Where is the U.S. in the coffee race:? Way at the back of the pack.

Wound up at an old hotel for beers and chips(fries) that was important in the old gold rush days.

Pix of dead pigs on fence...all over the place...wild pigs in abundance, small but very destructive...like large prarie dogs(sorry,Boulder folks)...after shooting them...just leave on fence...maybe a warning, but doubt pigs smart enough to get it.

Graham knows all the local lore, fauna and local flora...really smart for a Scot. Note he has a 4WD drive ....rare here ,but he hunts and fishes. Good on ya.
