We started the day with a 5:25am wake up call, and then another wake up call at 5:30. There isn't a person or anything the phone just autmoatically rings your room and then hangs up when you pick it up.

Lezah got up first as normal and had a shower while I slept for another 20 minutes.

We were on the bus at 6:25am in time for our 6:30 deadline but we didn't leave. The bus sat there until 6:50am when Jason our tour guide came on the bus to let everyone know that he was waiting for two people. He wasn't going to wait any longer and we were leaving them behind.

It may sound harsh but customs can take 30 minutes (for a full busload of people) or several hours. He said on one of his tours the bus took 6 hours for everyone to get through!

In our case we were really lucky and the entire bus got through customs in 30 minutes and crossed the border to Canada, I even got a second stamp in my passport :-D Lezah didn't get a second stamp.

Just after customs the two people we left behind caught up to us in a taxi which was lucky for them.

We went to the Niagara Falls lookout just in time for sunrise and saw some amazing scenes of the sun poking out just above the falls.

We then went to the IMAX theatre to watch a movie on the history of Niagara Falls and how the name "Maid of the Mist" came about. There were some very crazy people in the past, one lady got in a barrel with her cat and went over the falls just to become famous in 1901.  She made it over the falls but died in old age unknown and relatively poor.

At this stage it was just after 9am so we lined up for "Maid of the Mist". They give you ponchos and you get on a boat, it goes all the way into the falls and everyone gets soaked! We got wet trouser legs and shoes but because of the ponchos were mostly dry.

A lot of people were taking pictures inside the water fall but I didn't want to risk damaging the cameras and you couldn't really see anything anyway. I had the Canon in my pocket and took a photo as we left the falls.

After the boat ride we went up Skylon Tower and saw some great views of Niagara Falls.

We drove into Toronto and took a boat cruise to look at the Toronto city and surrounding islands. There is an airport very close to the city and the plan flew very low.

Toronto Skyline

Lastly we went up the CN Tower in Toronto (the tall pointy tower you can see in the photo above) and had lunch. It was all you can eat and I had way too much food. There were some amazing views from the observation deck though.

Toronto City Billy Bishop Airport

The CN Tower has a glass floor in one section so you can see all the way to the ground. It says it holds up to 14 hippos and while I was a bit hesitant at first it was very cool to see. Lezah didn't really like it but came on for a few seconds for a photo of our feet before cowering away.

At the bottom of CN Tower across the road there was a converted Train Turnstile and sheds which was now a trendy cafe. We didn't go in as we were getting straight on the bus but I did get a photo or two of the trains for my Dad.

The last stop was Toronto City Hall before leaving our tour group. We waved goodbye and then started walking towards our hotel.

Toronto City Hall

We were booked in for the night in Downtown Toronto  at 475 Yonge St, we were at 175 Yonge St so we decided to walk. Two kilometeres later we finally arrived. I lost a wheel on my cheapo Venice suitcase on the way :( If it was a car it would need a wheel alignment now.

We checked in and had a quick bite to eat at the McDonalds across the road. We were very tired and just wanted to eat quick and get our bags ready for tomorrow. We finally got a King bed instead of two doubles. I booked a Taxi for 6am to take us to the airport.

Next stop Cancun Mexico!

Are you guys tired yet? You'll need a holiday to recover from your holiday!

don_lezah on

We are tired at the moment that that is only because of the late nights and early starts the last three days. Currently Toronto airport flying to Cancun Mexico in 2 hours. We have a free day so I see an afternoon nap in my future after we check in.

The last 4 days our holiday is Hawaii as well, with no planned tours or anything. Just relaxing and shopping. We plan to see Pearl Harbour etc but we haven't pre-booked anything.
