We left Jolly Boys Backpackers in Livingstone and bought a bus ticket to the capital Lusaka. After a 7hr journey on a non air conditioned bus we finally made it, only to find that on a Saturday its very hard to find accomodation. We ended up staying at a more expensive hotel for a night, but at least the room was clean and more importantly was available. We actually had to visit 7 hotels or guesthouses before we found a reasonable room and we were not really that picky!. The dinner in the hotel restaurant was suprisingly good although like in the sketch from Fawlty Towers whatever we ordered from the menu wasn't available so we just said in the end, what do you have? The hotel was hosting a wedding so was packed and the wedding guests were having a very good time, singing and dancing into the night.

Today we are hanging around in Lusaka's shopping mall, as there isn't a great deal to do here. Tomorrow in a change of plan we intend to get a flight direct to Lilongwe, because the two parks in Zambia we were thinking of doing a safari in, are either inaccessible this time of year due to flooding or very difficult to get to by road.

As a little souvenir from the safari in Botswana, by the way, Jonna found two ticks in her left arm so Dom had to do a successful tick removal operation last night.
