touched down at ben gurion airport yesterday after a decent flight on turkish airlines, complete with a great meal and drink service. made my way via rekevet to arozolov station entirely in hebrew. kelly's friend erez was gone for the night and gave up his apartment for me to have to myself, so i can say i have an apartment of my own in tel aviv city centre, near dizengoff! my first purchase in israel - frozen yogurt. yum.
today went to jaffa and ate at the apparently famous abu chassan; hummus for breakfast. i felt like zohan. i know erica will be proud. walked around the flea markets and the shuk ha'carmel upon our return from walking back to tel aviv. saw a bat cave in an abandoned mosque and took a video, just for my mom. also turned down numerous offers to put on teffilin on the street, "because in israel, you can". sorry buddy. might go see waltz and beshir, an animated movie about the lebanon war, tonight. it's 22C, sunny, and in shorts and sandals and hopefully catching up on some vitamin D. i know i have worldwide sympathy for my weather, and i appreciate it.
