the first day-trip of this visit took me about an hour out of lisbon to
a little town called sintra. apparently it was a favourite spot of lord
byron, and lots of writers flock here. amazing palaces and gardens,
full of tunnels and cool things to discover (including this massive
well that's straight out of something from lord of the rings).
high above sintra is another palace flocked by moors castles, with more gardens and parks to explore.
from
sintra it was off to capo del boca which is easily portugal's version
of the cliffs of moher. the little tidbit here is that it's the
western-most point in all of europe, apparently (i guess people forget
about iceland).
