We arrived at Uyuni at 5.00pm after a 7 hour bus journey that was elongated by a delay when the road seemed to be built in front of us!
We got to the hotel and as we checked in the very friendly receptionist told us there was not electricity! In the whole town! That gave us about an hour to book our trip check out train times and get provisions before the sun went down.
A mad rush later we ahd booked onto a Colque tours trip. It was a bit of a tired, snap decision and we were both a little nervous considering some of the horror stories we had read and heard! This had been recommended a couple of places so it was a good a choice as any I figured!
We headed back to the hotel, gathered our torches and headed out for dinner. We had been recommended a pizza place called miunteman pizza, and although it was a little pricey it wsa delicious. The best pizza in South America so far!
Filled up we headed back to our candlelit room, excited and anxious about our trip!
