Finally have made it to see some redwoods after several abortive attempts over the years...the last one where torrential rain turned the park we were trying to visit into an impassable mud bath.

they were worth the wait. We found some nice flat trails and the kids were stars. They met some other children and did hours of walking and climbing.

Im not sure what impresses me the most about the trees , the size or their age....200-300 feet and 900 years respectively. They manage to grow in large numbers fairly close together which adds to the spectacle.

Anyway lucky for me they were good because i made Mrs T stay in a hostel as it was right in the middle of the park and on a beach. This is always a bit risky and when the 1st person we met gave out a lecture on the dangers of teflon pans and the evils of corn syrup I thought I was really in trouble!
