What I did
The Discovery Center is small but interesting as the animals it has are all rescue animals. Currently they have bears, wolfs, bald eagles, and owls. They have an information center, demonstrations with the animals, including educational demonstrations. They also have a gift shop where some of us bought items or gifts to take home. We had a quick lunch then continued on our way to the next stop.
The fishermen in our group stopped in a fish and tackle shop in West Yellowstone. The kids wanted to go swimming and because today is dedicated to Kayla, we looked for a place they could go enjoy the river. We first stopped at a location called Firehole River, it is a great swimming location but it was packed with people and there was no parking. So we passed that up and looked for somewhere else. We did find a spot along the river. We were there for a couple of hours. The kids had a good time, most of the grow ups were resting or sleeping.
We headed back to the campsite to make dinner and prepare for Kayla's birthday celebration. We had a delicious dinner with Dustin, Liana and kids. Dustin prepared steaks and baked potatoes. I sautéed mushrooms, and prepared zucchini for grilling. Everything was really good.
Before and after dinner the kids again played blackjack with Manuel. They seem to be having a good time.
Amy baked a cake for Kayla, it was decorated as a campfire, very cute! Kayla blew out the candles and opened her gifts. After eating cake, we sat around the campfire until we went to bed.
