When we arrived at the rafting company I noticed that they also have a scenic tour, it basically is the same route the whitewater route takes but without all the higher level rapids. I asked Amy and Hailey if she would be comfortable with the scenic tour. The company showed us a video, Hailey said she would take that tour. Our tour leaves a half hour later than the whitewater tour.
In our raft we have 4 adults, Hailey, two infants and 4 kids under 5, and Ben our guide. The tour is very nice and floating easily down the river. Ben our guide periodically points out the wildlife as we float down the river and a few historical or interesting facts about the area. We see ducks, osprey, other birds, and an amazing bald eagle sitting in a tree. Beautiful!.
One of the older little girls on our raft, she is probably 4 or 5 yrs old, keeps asking her dad if the raft can splash more. Ben finally asks everyone if we would be ok to go through areas that are a little rougher, we all say yes including Hailey. The little kids are thrilled with the "splashes". Hailey gets wet as her seat is the area where most of the water is hitting. Our nice calm tour all of a sudden is getting more exciting. It was fun.
All of a sudden we hear a group of people yelling out Hailey's name. We turn around and a raft with our family has caught up with us. It is all our family and friends. We can tell they are having lots of fun. They stay with us for a little while, then we split as they go through the rougher patches and we either stay in the smoother sections or take the rougher route if it is not to rough.
Other whitewater rafts start catching up with our two rafts. We are all in a calm section of thr river. The whitewater rafts start competing a little and looks like they are trying to knock each other and the guide of the opposite raft out of the raft. People fall out of the rafts, they are pulled back in. Apparently, earlier, Manuel fell out and his raft. Everyone thought he was having a hard time staying afloat in the water. Later he said he was faking it and let himself fall out of the raft. Who know what the real story is. For now everyone is having fun, it was fun to watch them while we sit safely in our calm raft. They do get back to business as the rougher patches come along.
The tour ends, they taken us back to the company office and show us video they took of each of our rafts. The video is great, of course they are selling the CD and of course we buy both.
There is a pizza place in the same complex where we are parked, we eat there then head back for our 2 hour drive.
We were gone about 8 hrs, the dogs inside trailers. Chuckie pee'd on my bed, darn. Now I head out to the laundromat to wash bedding.
When I get back to camp around 9:30pm, everyone is sitting around the campfire.
