We rode back into Chiang Mai in the early evening. Jon and I hurried to get cleaned up because we had made plans with Naomi and Merav to go to Shabbat dinner at Chabad. Apparently Jon had done Shabbat dinner with Davin before, so he wasn't feeling overwhelmed. I, meanwhile, was living it up, remembering all the songs and prayers I used to know. I met dozens of other travellers, sang, and ate. Did I mention the food was free? Because it was. Shabbat at Chabad in Chiang Mai will go down as one of my favorite nights on the trip. After dinner, Merav, Naomi, Jon, and I played cards and hung out until pretty late. I realize I haven't said much about these Israeli girls. It's difficult to relate exactly why I love so many of the people I meet. Like so many other travellers, Naomi and Merav were pretty, intelligent, and witty. We simply clicked. I hope to visit them one day in Israel. That's right, I'm already thinking of future trips. The next day, Jon and I returned our motorcycles and helmets. I pointed ot the visor, but they said it was no big deal. Really nice rental place. Certainly more friendly than I would ever expect in the States. Later Jon and I boarded a bus to takes us back to Bangkok. We had a plane to catch the next morning. The bus was pure luxury, but it was pure luxury 1970s style. Faux wood panneling. Purple upholstery. Very swanky. After a 9 hour ride, it dropped us in Bangkok and Jon and I grabbed a taxi to the airport.
