Actually I really liked the splendid desolation of Nevada and it is now my third favourite state in the US (but not for Las Vegas which is somewhere I don’t ever need to come back to see). My second favourite place Utah – which I have heard much maligned but seriously the natural beauty of the national parks is unsurpassed – even New Zealand struggles a little by comparison. Of course my favourite place in Wisconsin cool and beautiful in a very understated way – hey the Fonz was from WI – what else do you need to know?
And as to that Mexican and Beer? Really bad idea and getting caught short in the desert was not fun! Fortunately I drove into recreation area and I knew that they would have some facilities – it was not a fun experience but needs must!
Once in Vegas in my super sized suite and I was set to meet up with Mark and the rest of the crew. Vegas is as mad as I remembered and also as tiresome – looking forward to getting out to Death Valley and a few other sights later in the week.
What I listened to. Playlist 0057 interweaved with the world service where I heard a great documentary about an Iranian man who lives in Svalbard and has the world’s most northerly Kebab van. Awesome.
