Where I stayed
Onward through the outskirts of Ithaca to the next call – just 10 miles down the road the Taughannock Falls State Park which does have a very significant waterfall. It also has Cayuga Lake frontage and this is where I went, mistakenly first up. Problem with the snow was that I could not actually see where the parking or trails were. A quick call into the park office sorted me out and the guy was very relaxed about me abandoning the car out front. The path to the falls was straight forward and I followed the tracks left by the first walker of the day and their dog. Strangely when I encountered this walker – a lady in a big coat – there was no sign of the dog.
The falls themselves were partially frozen and the plunge pool has been turned into a dome of ice and snow
At the point I had about 3oz of petrol left and no money to buy anymore. On my second attempt I found a bank and then asked the sat nav to find me a petrol station – easier said than done!
Tosser of the day: As my brother Paul’s phone would say "you have activated the automated tosser detection system…." I was driving to Ovid to find an ATM when I saw a curios box shape approaching me – looked like a phone box on wheels. As I got closer I could see it was a horse drawn carriage so I slowed right down. Unlike the nob end in the pickup behind the carriage who was tailgating it. I am not joking tailgating a funking horse! Once I was round I saw in my rear view mirror that he went screaming past it and them immediately cut it up by turning right in front of it. Seriously what is your problem?
This happen to me once on my bike. I was 15 and doing work experience when a dude in a car thought he could overtake me and turn left all at once. I came off the bike headbutted his motor and the bike was dragged along the whole off-side. I was fine but his car got what he deserved for being a twat!
The snow got heavier
