Where I stayed
Bill and I are not the gambling type so somewhere like Macau we thought would be somewhat a nightlife mecca. We even thought we might give doubling up a go here and there for a change. Strange how things actually work out... First day we wallked around town and took in the very tall and exorbinate buildings surreounded by scwallors of units that were obivous there long before the casinos. Later that night we dressed up as best we could and headed out into the town. After some customary photos of all the pretty lights we headed to find a bar and a casino... No bar an hour later, we decided keep walking up to the Fishermans wharf area which is meant to be a new "entertainment" quarter in Macau. No Bars... OMG we are in hell!! Funny how different cultures are..
Not admitting defeat yet we just try to find a casino and grab a drink there. We walk into the Sands Casino, lovely place, and head upstairs. Its all going on at the tables and we look around for a bar, no bar... We eventually admit defeat, have dinner there (where we get a little beer) and then head home defeated. With a 100 HKD minimum bet, and no beer, we decide we are definately not the casino gambling kind... Tomorrow we will head to the race track instead!
The next day we were not disappointed! After a sleep in we headed to the race track. It was not Randwick but much resembled the trots at Glebe on a Friday night (less the free meal vouchers). Oh well... We got beer, lost some money and gained it all back in the last race! Someone was on our side that day as we also found and Irish pub to watch the Rugby at before retiring for the evening...
