Where I stayed
Things were not looking good when we trekked down deserted streets without life and then spotted McDonalds was closed as it was after 8pm!!!! Still we headed on and as we got to the main square there were at least a few more people around. We got to the guesthouse recommended in the LP which luckily was only just still open before the receptionist headed home. When we asked if they had any spare rooms I think she thought we were being sarcastic as we appeared to be the only ones there. But after walking around in the cold, dark streets the hotel was a real God send.
The next day after taking the sights including its fantastic central square (we were getting a bit over old towns but this still impressed) we set out to see the thing we (or more Bill) set out here for......the Budvar Brewery. Now I've always been paschal to a pint of Budvar back in England so I was really looking forward to this. Before the tour we sampled a couple of the glasses.....no public liability here. Although the limited toilet stops on the tour did make this a little unwise. The lady taking us around was absolutely lovely and although I'd be lieing that it was the best brewery tour I've been to at least it was real and didn't feel like a Disneyland ride.
After the tour we continued to sample a couple more with some fellow tour drunks....I mean guests and were a little happy when we collected our bags from the hotel and heading for the bus onto Cesky K!!!!
