Spoke to Matt, Sam, Libby and Poc….caught up on a bit of
communication which has been very frustrating but it can be cured with a good
red.. Today….the 2009 Cabinet Savignon from les Fleurs de Montblanc……..this is
the very expensive drop that costs 2.90 euros at the Cave.. Also had a beer
today to ease the frustration of driving…..can of 1664 Kronenbourg
Late morning, down to the Bolangerie for the obligatory
baguette for brekky. On to the computer at 11 a.m but unfortunately in the
premises of our landlady Delightful lady, met her for the first time time today.
Her name is Corinne, ….has a daughter Elise and she in turn has a partner –
Daniel. Top bloke, wears Guinness shirts and Rugby
world cup stuff…and speaks passable
English…much better than my French. Unfortunately he returns home to an island off Madagascar tomorrow and I think
Elise goes with him so Corinne will be on her own. Spent nearly 3 hours in her
downstairs garden doing e.mails and internet stuff including skype calls to or
from our three kids and poc. Thanks
guys, its good to keep in touch.
Corinne advised that we had to get our car out of the Place
de Republic (main drag) tonight as there
is a market there tomorrow and all cars have to be out. Looks like we are buying more food tomorrow.
Small tour today to get some money out of an Electronic
Teller Machine (our town is too small for a hole in the wall) and also a preliminary walking tour around
part of the Caux Village which was great . Drove to
Cignac which is quite a large town to the north of Caux, then on to
St-Guilhem-le-Desert and the Grotte de Clamouse.. We arrived at the Grotto too
late for the tour but that was ok as it turned out to be an underground cave
which we are not too keen on. On to St Guilhem le Desert….the photo stops along
the road were great as was the village when we got there
church which dates back to the 10th Century and decided to return
when we had more time and do it over slowly. Will probably return tomorrow.
Couldn’t linger too long as the butcher in the villages
closes at 7.30 and we had to get home and buy meat for dinner. Decided on
Sausages………….actually its just one long big of sausage (saucisse) which turned out to be excellent.
The boucherie holds out a piece …and you say yes (oui) or non….and bobs your
aunty.. Obligatory pre dinner snacks of tomatoes, pate, cheese,
Looking forward to market tomorrow
and then probably back touring up north
frames today at Gignac…..looking good. ….definately French designer stuff.
(this is Jill – as usual, couldn’t decide -----–
really should have seven different opinions, but at the last minute, saw these
and thought they were OK.
