We drove through Illinois and made our first stop for lunch at 3 Sister's Cafe, which was featured on Diners, Drive-In's and Dives. The restaurant is in a super cute blue house and serves primarily vegetarian meals. We had a great platter of dips, including hummus, pesto, a tomato paste, gorgonzola spread, and a barley pilaf. It was one of the best meals we had on the trip!
After lunch we visited the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and went to the Hall of Fame Museum. The museum was awesome, it was filled with the winning cars from the past races, including historic cars from the 20's.
We watched a video about the races and saw some old motorcycles. We determined that if we were still in the 1920's, the bear-mobile would have been a contender in the race!
After the museum we drove around downtown Indianapolis, and then went to dinner at Zest, which was also featured on DDD. We had some delicious chicken and salmon, and enjoyed these little pretzel rolls with mustard spread.
Our visit to Indianapolis was short but sweet. Now we were off to Jared's old stomping grounds in Wheeling, West Virginia!
On Tuesday we left St. Louis for Indianapolis.
