The park has several different parts to it, but we visited the Island in the Sky section. The area is a mesa that rests on top of tall cliffs. Basically, when you are up there you feel like you are floating in the sky.
We drove around to several different vistas and did a short hike to Upheaval Dome. Then we watched the sun set at Green River Outlook.
That night we camped out in Canyonlands and took advantage of the dark night sky. At about 2am we woke up and saw a meteor shower!
We saw approximately 10-15 shooting stars within an hour, some of which were large fire balls. It was really amazing because while on top of the cliffs we had absolutely no artificial light to interfere with the show.
After our visit to Arches National Park, we drove to our fifth and final national park in Utah - Canyonlands National Park.
