The dog's food is all premeasured.  Phone numbers are on the fridge.  House is clean and the truck has been topped off with enough fuel to get us at least through the first 378 miles.  Not bad for an F-150.  I have been feverishly watching two websites and channels on TV as the trip rapidly approaches toward our 3am departure on Wednesday.  The Weather Channel and AAA.  TWC for forecasts during our 3870 mile trek (as if I can control the weather) and then AAA for any highway closures and the ever-so-inching-up fuel prices....two bucks and 35 cents is where I think we are at right now.  Just our luck it will be at 4 dollars by trip's end.

Welcome to the All-American East Coast Historical and Edumacational Road Trip Experience Summer 2009.  Stops will include Vicksburg, Chattanooga (albeit by truck and not choo-choo), Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Great Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah Valley, Gettysburg, Washington DC, Mount Vernon, Jefferson's Monticello, Williamsburg, Yorktown, Kitty Hawk, Charleston, St. Augustine, and New Orleans.  After this 14-day excursion, Brian and I will have two Master's Degrees in US History.

Each night we get in we plan to upload some shots and blog our day's voyage.  Although it will be tough in parts of Mississippi as I hear they are still working on that amazing new technology called the "inter-net."  So hop on board and join us through most of the US' southeast states including Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, North and South Carolina, Florida, and Georgia.  Oh, and maybe Delaware if I accidentally miss and exit or something.

National Park Passport and AAA card in hand.  GPS is on and routes are plugged in.  First stop, Vicksburg National Military Park.  Overnight in Jackson.  Gentlemen, start your engine.
