bad day
Entry 25 of 47 | show all | print this entry |
So today was not the best day. First of all, Dad and Lisa had gotten news of an unfortunate occurrence back home and were distressed about getting home to deal with it. Although they were flying out at 3PM, they spent Friday night and Saturday morning trying to figure out if they could somehow get home sooner. They weren't successful, and had to settle for the assigned flight. But the tension was clear. We too received bad news. Sister Bea Sanders of the El Monte North congregation, who is one of my mother-in-law's best friends, as well as our landlady, passed away this morning. She has been in failing health for some time now. Recently a non-cancerous tumor was found in her brain. The surgery to remove it was successful, but while in the hospital, Bea contracted pneumonia. She had been fighting some mysterious lung disease for awhile, but the pneumonia was just too much for her elderly, frail body to handle. We are deeply saddened by her loss and our hearts are breaking for her husband, Buck. I spoke to him briefly, and he said that he is doing alright, and is so grateful for the help and support he is receiving from his grown children and the congregation. He said that the memorial service is tentatively scheduled for December 8th. I don't know if we'll be able to make it home for that, but we're hoping so. We'll see. In the meantime, we just pray that Jehovah will continue to give him strength and that he continues to recieve the support he needs.
