What a lovely weekend we just had. After the great deluge of rain we had for 3 days, we finally got a break. Saturday turned out to be an absolutely gorgeous day. The rain had washed the air clean, the sky was perfectly blue, and there was a crispness to the air that felt so good.
Friday, Albert and I were sitting in the trailer playing games (he had the day off and it was raining) and generally observing the other campers who were arriving for the weekend. People watching is always fun. Well, Saturday morning we got up to get ready for the Circuit Assembly, and Albert happened to notice that the people next to us left really early and were all dressed up. Hmmm....
The assembly hall was so pretty. There were hand-painted murals on a couple of the walls, and one window had an etching of Jesus talking to his apostles. Beautiful. It was fun to run into friends that we had made when we were in Fairfax, VA just the week before. There were 3 families in particular that we had talked to the most in Fairfax, so we enjoyed finding them again at the assembly and feeling like we actually knew somebody.

So Saturday night we get home and notice that our neighbors now have an extra car that has joined them. Then on Sunday morning the man left really early, by himself, all dressed up and carrying a lunch bucket. Hmmmm....
What a great assembly. While we've tried to make all the meetings, traveling has made things a little tricky and we have missed a few. The ones we miss we try to make up by listening in to our own congregation by cell phone. It works, and it's wonderful to hear the voices of our friends back home, but there's nothing quite like actually being with the friends. So the assembly was perfect. It was a spiritual shot in the arm and so uplifting. It never ceases to amaze me what kind of trials different brothers and sisters face, yet they still give their all to Jehovah. Jehovah's spirit certainly is alive among his people! He keeps us close, he keeps us strong and never lets any doubt creep in that we as Christians truly do have love among ourselves.
Today was break down and travel day. The drive to Charlotte would be several hours, so we were hoping to get out fairly early. But while Albert was outside messing with the tanks, he got to talking to the guy next door to us. The one we had seen leaving early all dressed up over the weekend. Sure enough, they were Witnesses!
Several other campers that we had noticed were also in town for the assembly. This particular circuit lives rather far from the assembly hall, so most people lodge nearby. And camping in a cozy trailer is as good of lodging as any! We ended up spending a good couple of hours talking with Bro and Sis Belcher. Turns out her mother had joined them Saturday night (thus the extra car) so that's why the brother was able to leave so early on Sunday. He had 'attendicising' to do. (Not really a word, I guess, but you know what I mean, right)? The family followed in Mom's car later. What a neat couple. Mindy and I ended up having quite a bit in common and were able to trade pointers on how to deal with our health issues. Helpful, I must say. We had so much fun talking with them that we got really behind schedule. Quite all right, though! We made it to Charlotte in the dark, but at least we made it!
