Hey All,

Well it's been a bit less than three days here in the Bangkok sprawl and we're finally starting to feel a bit more comfortable.  We still do a bit of a celebration every time we make it across the street though...  Yesterday wound up being a pretty great day.  We woke up at 6 after and grabbed a decent breakfast and I think we shocked the waitress a little bit when we ordered two large Beer Changs with our pancakes and eggs.  She laughed a looked over at the clock, but in the end she got over it and brought us our beers.  We wound up talking to an old Aussie couple who tought us how to barter for a cab and then cabbed over to Chatuchak weekend market.  It was pretty cool to see, but neither of us were really all that into buying anything so we didn't stay too long.  Then we decided to take the skytrain to get a bit of a view of the city, but it turned out that we got on the metro instead of the skytrain and didn't see anything.  We randomly got off at the Bus terminal and wound up buying a one way train ticket to Chang Mai for tomorrow morning.

The rest of the day we got an hour-long foot/body Thai massage which was pretty amazing for ~$6 and had some amazing Indian food which put Curry Point to shame.  After that we spent about a half hour looking for a liquor store before finally finding one and bought a nice '26 of Mae Kong Thai whisky for about $3.  We split it with a nice Belgian girl we met and then met up with some Kiwis and watched some soccer and Rugby finals before staggering home.  All in all a sweet day, but in the end I think we're both a little bit relieved to be leaving Bangkok.

Now we're heading off to see the Grand Palace and then from there who knows.  I'm starting to really appreciate the random nature of this whole travelling thing.  At first we were both feeling pretty anxious and feeling as if we should be "doing something" all the time, but it's starting to sink in that we have nothing but time and that the down time and the mistakes that we make and the people that we meet are going to be the things that we remember.  It's a great feeling and I'm looking forward to the next five months.

Anyhow, I've only got 4 minutes of internet left.  Hope everyone is well, next post from Chang Mai.
