Kara beat me up today - I mean, she was up and working, organizing, etc., long before I woke up at 8 am.  We decided on strategy and went down for breakfast for the last time at Comfort Suites.  Today I had the last partial serving of eggs before they ran out.  I decided to use whole instead of 2% milk so my coffee would taste better and the whole milk carafe was three drops short of empty.  AND there were no chickens this morning...that was the biggest disappointment of all.

After breakfast, in between packing up bits of things Kara piled up clothes to take to the dryer.  I don't think I have ever described the level of humidity in our room.  I don't think we noticed it very much outside, but it was very humid in our room.  Clothes that I took off and might be slightly damp became wet to the touch after a night in our room.  Our packs and bags were wet to the touch as well.  Papers didn't seem that soggy, but our clothes definitely did.  At first, we wondered why they took our towels every day even though we didn't put them on the floor to be taken (as they noted in their eco-sensitive placard.  Then I understood ... the towels would never dry if left hanging in the bathroom.

Then we went to the beach for our last dip.  We waded into the crystal clear water up to our shoulders and walked around toward the dark spots in the sand.  Kara recognized the cement things that she kept falling into the first night we went out.   She thought they looked like underwater strawberry pots....I thought they looked more like eel pots.  While we walked around trying to avoid stubbing our toes on them, we noticed some largish gray fish swimming around.  Next we were surrounded by a school of fish - just yards from the shore.  The fish kept swimming back and forth around us.  It was a wonderful encounter on our last morning on Grand Cayman!  We didn't know exactly what kind they were, but Kara thinks they were some kind of parrotfish.

We got back to our room around 10:30 am and finished packing.  Kara dried a whole bunch of stuff.  I ripped some pages of interest from the various tourist guides.  We sorted out our remaining food, ate our last yogurts and Kara's leftover pizza and off we went.  We were fortunate in that a taxi driver came in to pick up some other people who were leaving the Comfort Suites to go to the Westin up the road.  Our taxi driver was very friendly and kept telling us about the horrible construction on the roads and how they were always working the daytime.  Sometimes it was hard to understand her because she talked so fast and had a strong island accent.

Once we got to the airport, we did some shopping.  Kara bought a package of rum cakes.  I bought a little pina colada rum cake to share for dessert and a CD by the Barefoot Man - he plays at the Marriott and other hotels and his were the only CDs in the airport shops.  We traveled to Charlotte without incident.  Kara and I got separated to allow a family to sit together and Kara was seated next to a friendly couple who stayed at the Marriott and had the lobster all-you-can buffet last night ... to make me jealous that we missed it.

Now we are at the gate waiting for our plane to Albany.  Kara is working on John's scarf.  I finished my book so I am playing on the computer.

We had some delays getting off the ground in Charlotte so we were around 40 minutes late getting into Albany.  Back to the economy parking lot.  Oops, somehow the parking lot ticket disappeared, but we showed the man our flight itinerary and he filled out a form, we paid up, and off we went.  Now it is 2 am.  I filled some pitchers with water in case the electricity goes off with the big blizzard and started my load of clothes washing in case the water pump won't work.  I am uploading these last photos while I still have internet.

Thank you, Kara, for a wonderful week in the sunshine on Grand Cayman!
