I had a very special Mother's Day. Kara took me to Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory and Gardens in Massachusetts. We started out early so I thought we could sneak in another garden. We tried a place called Hillside Garden in Norfolk, Connecticut that was in my garden book, but they were no longer operating a public nursery, so we went to our favorite nursery - White Flower Farm instead. After a bite to eat for lunch on their grounds, we headed off to Massachusetts to the butterfly farm. It looked as if it were in an airport hanger - not sure what the building was, but they certainly had a lot of butterflies. The tropical trees and plants were covered - well, almost - with so many different kinds of butterflies. The butterfly feeding stations were a great place to catch them in a quieter state. The farm also had a room with tropical frogs and other small animals, plus some tortoises (for John). We stayed until closing time and then went to Northampton for a great Thai dinner at a restaurant that we had been to before with Candae - quite a few years ago now.
