We started off a little later with our game drive on the way.  We
understood why but were a little disappointed we wouldn't get to go out
for a real game drive in the 4x4s.  However, it turned out very well.
We saw hyenas, lots of lions.  There were some great birds but we
didn't stop for all of them...we did see a bunch of buzzards around a
dead wildebeest.

We didn't see any lions fight today....they were definitely pretty mellow.  Like the mating male and female, they would lie down, get up, walk a little, lie down again, etc., etc.  But it was still exciting to watch them.  We did see two impala fighting, clenching horns, for a little bit and then they broke it off...the fight, that is, not the horns.

The other exciting bit...I can't remember if Jamie was the one who saw the cat on the kopje...or someone else.  Jamie did spot one, however, just not sure which one.  Whoever did, I can't see how he (or she) did it - from far away, at most you could see the top of the head, maybe the ears, unless it showed more before I managed to get my camera aimed in that direction.  In any case, Steven drove around it to be

closer and almost got stuck in the mud but the cheetah walked across

our path and so we could see her very well.  I, of course, didn't get my lens focused that fast ... the action was pretty fast.

We drove back on the windy road by the Ngorongoro Crater after
passing the migrating herds of zebra, wildebeest and gazelles.  It
rained along the way.  It IS the rainy season after all.  We
stopped at a park office and revisited the museum and the hilltop
lookout - kopje - where Juliet found some elephant dung and some other varieties

Then around 4:30 pm, we arrived at the Snake Park campground.  It may have another actual name.  Eunice met us
with a fantastic dinner:  potatoes, roasted goat legs, veggies and salad plus
fruit salad with extraordinarily sweet mango.  It rained at the end of
dinner.  Juliet went off to the Snake Park but I thought she was going
to the bar, so I stopped at the bar and got a Safari beer.  Safari was a
mistake.  Oops, then we had dinner.  I went with Mel to the Snake Park
after dinner and saw lots of cobras, pythons, most with shed skins and a
deadly looking viper snake that looked like dead leaves.  It was very
scary and I was afraid I would have nightmares.

After dinner, it
was bed time.  I am not sure how much it rained but I brought in my
underwear (that I had washed) and they never dried.  I didn't have nightmares though.
