We left the orphanage at 8:30 after a goodbye song from the kids.  I said goodbye to Brenda and Beatrice and I promised to email them when I got home.

We drove for about 3 hours and got to our campsite amid greenhouses of roses before lunch, chilled, and had lunch.

We then went on an afternoon excursion - all of this was a private tour.  The main guide was very proud of his
local outfit for providing whatever the Lake Naivasha tourist wanted.  First a boat ride on a small alkaline lake next to Lake Naivasha where we saw lots of lesser flamingos and 2 greater flamingos, a bunch of hippos in the water, terns, pelicans, and Juliet heard doves.

Then we went for several walks and tried to close in on some Maasai giraffe and some common zebra.  From the vehicle in between walking stops, we saw warthogs and a jackal, guinea fowl, impala, Thompson's gazelle, eland - what did I miss?  It was lovely.

After that, we drove to a crater lake viewpoint.  Some people, like athletic Robert, went for the rocky peak; others of us stayed on the ledge overlooking the crater lake.   At first I couldn't see the giraffe below on the shore, but then with the aid of telephoto lens and binoculars I did see them.  They looked like toys.

Once back to the campground, I showered, had dinner and it was only 7 pm.  The night was young, so I went to the bar and watched others play pool.  I wasn't sure whether my various eye issues - like focusing or lack thereof - would make playing pool useless.  When we went to sleep, another truck had parked right next to our tent and the people were very noisy.  This had little effect on my ability to sleep though.  Jerry was the good eater of the family; I think I must excel in the sleeping department.
