I met Juliet at Terminal T after I waited in a huge snaking line to go through airport security in Brussels. We got to catch up a little before boarding. We had separate seats but I had an empty seat next to me and we were at the front of the economy class section. I read my book, ate several meals and finally we landed in Kigali after 8 pm.
On the flight across from me was a young Russian man with a group of companions. He was severely chastised by the flight attendants for drinking his own gin. First they told him it was against the rules and he said he wouldn't do it again. But when breakfast arrived or was it dinner, he felt the need to add more gin to his drink....or was it pure gin in that plastic cup. The flight attendant came back and really laid into him. He took full responsibility after trying to drag his companions into it and had to give his boarding pass to the attendant who wrote him up. It was as if they were scolding a third-grader.
My bag was one of the first off the carousel but I noticed that my walking sticks weren't attached anymore. So then began the quest to find the missing sticks. I don't have much hope because they weren't labeled in any way. Supposedly they weren't on the plane in Kigali so the staff person will check with Brussels airport and I was to try the internet but it is too slow.
Juliet and I are disappointed with our lodging...it is pretty third rate for the price we pre-paid. Somehow we feel gypped and Juliet tried to get us a better room. We went for a walk to check out the neighborhood and find a money exchange and then got lost walking back....well, not so much lost as we went much farther than we were supposed to. Now after some little success on their wi-fi, it is time to hit the sack I think.
