We started by getting up at 4:30 am and leaving our hotel at 5:15 to catch the train to Belgrade. It was a six-hour ride and most of the scenery was uninspiring....partly I think because of the overcast gray weather. There were flat fields with striped green and brown (where they were plowed), some houses, but no cows, chickens, pigs, etc. There were lots of crows and crow's nests in the trees. Others saw quite a few deer and pheasants. Oh, yes, some people did see cows. Our compartment didn't for some reason.
We were delivered to our hotel from the train station and started on a city walk after a few minutes to get ready. It was drizzling quite a bit in the early part of the walk. Our hotel is downtown in Belgrade and we walked to the nearest big church, then Belgrade Cathedral, the old fort and the Bohemian district where some of us will have dinner at a place that serves traditional Serbian food
As I started to get on the computer, I found out that I had left my adapter at the previous hotel. I am quite upset by that....all my photo equipment, cell phone and computer depend on recharging. Oh, oh. My only hope is that Betty will be willing to charge some of my things along with hers. I have a few more minutes before I need to go to meet Erwin and some of the others for dinner.
I found a fantastic photo gallery website for Belgrade by Vlado Marinkovic: http://www.pbase.com/vmarinkovic/belgrade
