In the morning we went piranha fishing on a pontoon boat in the river.  I think we all caught at least one and had our photos taken with our catch, then a close-up of the piranha's teeth.  I caught a fairly large one so I was quite delighted and even allowed a photo to be taken of me.  The Fazenda staff baited the hook and took off the fish just as my father used to do when the family went to the Adirondacks when I was a kid.   We didn't realize it at the time, but this was lunch for the resident caiman.  We motored over to the dock and teased the caiman with the piranhas so that we could all get our close-up photos of the caiman's big teeth.

After our own lunch, we began the drive south toward Iguassu Falls.  We had been in the Pantanal for 3 days which were the best so far.  And the food was very good - AND didn't require cooking by me!

This was my cook group's first turn to make dinner and our request to bush camp was turned down at two gas stations so we were still looking as it got darker and darker.  Finally the owners of a small restaurant let us camp in their back yard and use their toilets - always an important consideration.  I survived our first meal:  pasta with either red sauce or garlic and cheese sauce, tossed salad and fruit salad with shredded coconut bits for the topping.

The ground was very hard at this "bush camp."   I had a hard time falling asleep and heard the dripping from an outdoor sink faucet nearby.  I remember hoping that the water wasn't spilling over so that I would be floating in the morning ...or sooner.
