Oh, I forgot...when we were in Tierra del Fuego,
we got an end of the world stamp in our passports...with penguins on the stamp....for
a fee of course.

Today we had a late start (9 am) after a camp breakfast.  Then we
stopped in town for a fan belt.  Off we went again, driving through
Tierra del Fuego with bright blue skies.  We saw snow on the mountain
peaks, stopped at one mirador by a lake to take photos.

We then
drove through some flat Patagonian landscape for quite awhile to San Sebastian - the
border.   We crossed the

border into Chile.  We had to take all our bags into the building to be

checked.  Paul was caught smuggling in an orange.

Around 5 pm, we stopped at the Frontera Hosteria restaurant in the middle of nowhere.  Dragoman
could get a special rate on rooms if we ate in the restaurant and we
could also camp if we wanted.  This was the coldest
night we had yet...with frost on the ground in the morning.  Since it was so chilly  I opted for the upgrade
of a bunk indoors.  But there weren't rooms enough for everyone - 4
people still had to camp.

There was a full moon - which made
everything more special.  The restaurant was cute - there were
old-timey photos and pictures, of native people and gaucho life on the
walls along with farming tools.  There was one photo of the restaurant
staff-family with stocky, gray-haired men and a slight young man with
black hair - who looked very much like our waiter.  The tables all had
different table clothes.  I had a nice dinner with a glass of wine.  And
even though it was in the middle of nowhere, there were other people
there.  I thought they were locals but Mick said they weren't.
