Bonito: Balnearo Municipal Rio Formosa

I rented a bike from the hostel. Since I was early, I got one with gears - which was a good thing because the 8 km to the park seemed awfully long with all those hills. I had been thinking I had misunderstood Mick's directions when I finally came to the traffic circle and turn off.
Mick had called it a monkey park but unfortunately there were no monkeys when I was there. Nor did I see any macaws but that may not have meant that they weren't there. The other Dragoman folks saw them after I left. I did see fish in the river though - lots of fish. I think they were the familiar dourado. There were board walks in the park where you could feed the fish and see them in a feeding frenzy. If I had researched more about the park and brought my bathing suit, I could have gone swimming with the fish or at least floated down the river in the current. There were tons of fish.
The bike ride was quite hot and the seat hurt. On the way back I stopped at an internet cafe and walked along the sidewalk looking for food. There was a very expensive exotic meat cafe but I wasn't looking for meat. So I just snacked on what I had. I spent the rest of the afternoon reading and had more of my snacks for dinner. I wanted to get rid of some of the extra weight in my pack. It was a relaxing afternoon.
