Trip to the Ocean Road - Top Notch!!
Heck of a lot of driving with a heck of a lot of sights - but wow, was it spectacular!!
So many cool beaches, cliffs, rolling hills and landscapes - but far and away the highlight was hanging out with the notorious 12 Apostles (and the gorge beside it).
We had only rented a car for 24 hours - so we definitely had to boot through most things - with the goal of getting to the apostles for sunset. We pulled in under cloudy skies with debates if we'd even see a sunset (or if we missed it - a little nervous) - but for the next hour it was just unbelievable watching the sky turn and looking at these unbelievable structures
They were so good that we longed for seeing them in bright daylight - but seeing as we had to drive back early the next morning - we wanted to see them even earlier. So after pitching a tent at a campsite - our alarms were set for 5:30 in order to catch the sunrise. Unfortunately that was kind of a bust as it was hazy and not too bright at all - but we did see the gorge a few clicks beyond the apostles and it was just as crazy spectacular too! Didn't catch it in the best of light for cameras, but still great to see it in person.
Now back in Melbourne for a quick night before catching a bus to Canberra at 7 am tomorrow morning - so that we will be well rested for a big-time rugby game on Saturday which we are attending! - that should be awesome.
pete will be wearing a pink shirt for it (if i win a bet) and we'll have a blast.
cheers.
