After another lie in for the three of us until 9am, and up at 5.30am for
the golfers again. We sat down for breakfast before leaving at 11am,
and drove for 4 hours to the Grand Canyon, one of the Earth's most
powerful, inspiring landscapes. Its rugged landscape hosts a
fascinating variety of plant and animal communities, from the desert
next to the Colorado River deep in the canyon to montane forests atop
its North Rim.
We stopped inside the park to take a short walk and take some pictures
before checking into our lodges. We sat and made a plan for the rest
of the day, changed and then drove to Bright Angel Point and took the
bus to the Abyss. Whilst admiring the view and stopping for pictures,
we took a slow walk back to Hopi Point for sunset at 7.45pm.
After sunset we took the shuttle bus back to Bright Angel Point where we
went for tea and then drove back to our lodges for bed.
