So starts the next adventure! This year, Krista, Barb, Stephanie, and I are travelling together in France. I'm starting off this story but they'll all be helping write this blog.

Krista actually is already in Germany and will be joining us in Bordeaux on the 30th. Barb and Steph are travelling from Fredericton while I'm leaving from Moncton ... the three of us will meet up in Toronto. We should be arriving in Paris (CDG) early morning tomorrow (29th), transferring to Orly and flying to Bordeaux. If all the planets align and the travel gods are in our favor, we should land in Bordeaux around 1PM local time.

A first this year for us is going completely carry-on! Challenging "yes" ... chance of missing luggage "no"! After several packing attempts, removing several pieces of clothing, and being talked off the ledge of bringing pretty things instead of practical things, mission was accomplished. It truly is a testament to packing cubes ... very important for minimalist travel!

Almost time to board for CDG ... bye for now!

Steph here. Well, the countdown is over, and we are finally on our way to France! This trip has been a year and a half in the making and I can't believe it's finally here. We have a long journey ahead of us.
In Toronto now. Barb and I have flown from Fredericton, and met Dawn (who flew from Moncton) here. Next, we are flying to Paris overnight, changing airports, flying to Bordeaux, then taking a shuttle to our apartment. Krista is in Germany at Oktoberfest, and will meet up with us in Bordeaux. We will spend a few days exploring that city before our hike begins.
We'll be hiking for a week throughout the area around Bordeaux. After that we are renting a car, driving to Amboise for one night visiting chateau Chambord, then on to Bayeux, where we have rented a house for four nights. From Bayeux, we'll take daytrips to Mont St. Michel, Brittany, Normandy (Juno beach), and those areas. We will wind up our trip by spending a few days in Paris before heading home
Due to our limited time in Paris tomorrow transferring from one airport to the other, we are all doing carryon this time around. This was a challenge but I'm proud to say I was able to get my suitcase down to approximately 20 lbs! When you're on the move, Packing light is the way to go!
Our trip so far has been mostly uneventful, except for a) I was pulled over for "questioning" at the gate, but the man didn't really ask me any questions, and then let me go, b) I've discovered that my gel insoles are missing from my hiking boots, which I am wearing (sure hope they sell them in France!) c) my company migrated my email box today and I'm unable to access my contacts or receive any email, and d) our Maple Leaf Lounge passes, which Dawn scored, were unusable! I've had a pumpkin latte and some chocolate now, and am seeing the humour in all of this. If today is any indication, the next few weeks should be an adventure!
