2010 U.S. Road Trip – Day 26 -
7/14/2010 – Seattle, WA

Washington is just across the bridge
from Portland. We stayed in the North Harbor last night so the
bridge was right outside the door of the hotel. We were in
Washington less than 5 minutes after leaving the hotel. During our
trip up I-5 we had views of the snow capped mountain of Mt Rainier
and the Olympic Mountains. Our first stop was Olympia, the capital
of Washington. We drove by the capital and made a stop at the
library. We then proceeded to tour the downtown area before leaving
for Seattle.

Once we got to Seattle we had to find a
place to stay for the night. Our first preference was the Residence
Inn which was fully booked for the night. I then booted up my
computer and connected to the internet using my Verizon mobile
broadband card. I found that there was a SpringHill Suites in the
area so I called to inquire about available rooms. The woman on the
phone stated that they were sold out for the night. So I browsed to
the SpringHill Suites website and found that I could reserve a room
for the night on the website. I reserved a room at the SpringHill
suites and then drove to the hotel. We checked in with no problem.
I guess they were not booked for the night after all. After settling
in we went for a walk in downtown Seattle and had dinner at the mall
housed in one of the downtown buildings.
